Acne vulgaris (AV) is a multifactorial disease of pilosebaceous unit and is a prototype of acneiform dermatoses. The term ‘acneiform’ refers to dermatoses which resemble acne vulgaris clinically but have different etiopathogenesis. Acneiform dermatoses include a wide range of diseases which can occur in all age groups from infancy to elderly. They are so prevalent in all around the world that only AV rate has been reported to be 40–50 million/year in the USA and its prevalence has been estimated as 100% among adolescents in United Kingdom. Acneiform dermatoses have also important economic burden on governments due to high prevalence.
